Why AI for Impact Exists
AI for Impact closes that gap — connecting nonprofits directly with vetted AI practitioners who help them build real, working solutions, not just attend another training session. We are a Bingham Fellows Class of 2026 initiative building a repeatable model: assess a nonprofit's readiness, match them with a practitioner, support hands-on implementation, and measure whether the change actually sticks.
Louisville nonprofits want to use AI but lack the time, staff capacity, and technical guidance to do it responsibly. Many are experimenting on their own, without a clear policy or plan, while others haven't started at all out of uncertainty about where to begin.
A Pilot Built to Prove the Model
Our first year is a pilot — proving this model works with real nonprofit partners before we scale it citywide. Rather than launching broadly right away, we're deliberately starting small: testing the assessment process, the practitioner match, and the follow-up measurement with a handful of nonprofit partners so we can refine the model with real evidence before growing it.
A Bingham Fellows Class of 2026 Initiative
AI for Impact began with a question: how might we help Louisville nonprofits build capacity in AI, responsibly and sustainably? We're a team from the Leadership Louisville Bingham Fellows program committed to answering it — through direct conversations with nonprofit leaders, a citywide needs assessment, and a hands-on pilot designed to prove out a model worth sustaining well beyond our program year.
